Result for St Mary’s NS with funding granted!

St Mary’s National School in Virginia are to receive long awaited funding for refurbishment and an extension, it was just announced by Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn.
The announcement follows a visit by the INTO president to the school last Tuesday and an intensive campaign by the board of management, teachers and parents for the funding for improved accommodation at the school.
Fine Gael TD for Cavan and Monaghan, Deputy Joe O’Reilly warmly welcomed the news.
‘I am really delighted to hear this wonderful news for St Mary’s National School. I know that the school have been waiting a very long time for funding for their badly needed extension and thankfully, we are able to bring that long wait to an end,’ he said.
This comes on foot of an announcement from Minister Quinn and the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Brendan Howlin, that €100 million will be invested in the school building programme, as part of the Government’s Investing in Infrastructure & Jobs package.
‘I would like to congratulate the teaching staff of St Mary’s, led by their Principal, Mr Peadar Quealy, the school’s Board of Management, led by Fr. Dermott Prior, and the entire school body on the hard work they put in to achieve this,’ concluded Deputy O’Reilly.
