Anglo Celt

Madam,

One reads with amazement in The Anglo-Celt of July 30 that parking charges may increase in Cavan town. It has been clear that since the introduction of paid parking in Cavan that businesses within the parking zone have been adversely affected. To increase parking charges in the current recessionary times will make the situation worse for business people.

It's an extraordinary unfairness that shoppers have to pay for parking in Cavan town centre (and other county towns) while shoppers in out-of-town businesses have free parking. Either parking charges are extended to out-of-town centres or abolished everywhere. It is up to Cavan County Council to take action to give a level playing field for in-town and out-of-town businesses.

Yours,

Pat Nally,

Mullingar,

Co. Westmeath.
