U21s get season off on right note with Hastings win over Roscommon

Nine players who featured in the championship for the 2011 Cavan U21 team are underage again for 2012, namely Niall McKiernan, Kevin Tierney, Shane O'Reilly, Patrick King, Michael Brady, Feargal Flanagan (Butlersbridge), Jack Brady, Turloc Mooney and Packie Leddy.

A gutsy performance from an under-strength Cavan U21 side saw them come from five points down to defeat Roscommon by a point in the opening round of the Hastings Cup in Kilbride last Saturday.

Cavan manager Terry Hyland was heartened by the spirit shown by his side, who snatched the win with a late, late goal from Ramor's Jack Brady.
