Cavan midfielder David Givney.

Givney misses out as Cavan make five changes

Cavan manager Terry Hyland has made five personnel changes to his starting team for the visit of Roscommon to Breffni Park tomorrow (Sunday) at 3pm.

And the big news is that midfielder David Givney will not start, for the first time in a number of seasons.

The big Mountnugent man is carrying a knock and will be rested for the visit of the Rossies. Hyland hinted in an interview with The Celt after the game that Givney may need a break after a hectic schedule of college, inter-provincial, club and county matches over the spring.

He will be replaced by Killeshandra’s Declan McKiernan, who played well in a cameo as a sub against Wicklow a fortnight ago.

Killian Brady comes into the side at corner-back, as does Ronan Flanagan, with Josh Hayes and Oisin Minagh losing out. Padraic O’Reilly takes over at number three form James McEnroe, who is listed at wing-back. Fit-again Rory Dunne returns to the fold at wing-back in place of Alan Clarke, whil Mossy Corr also makes way, with Mark McKeever returning to the side in the half-forward line.

Cavan: James Reilly; Killian brady, Padraic O'Reilly, Ronan Flanagan; Rory Dunne, James Mcenroe, John McCutcheon; Gearoid McKiernan, Declan McKiernan; Martin Reilly, Cian Mackey, Mark McKeever; Martin Dunne, Niall McDermott, Eugene Keating
