Reprieve for Carr

Tommy Carr will remain on as Cavan senior team manager for another week at least after delegates at the county board meeting in the Hotel Kilmore requested time to seek a mandate from their clubs on the proposed vote of no confidence. Incredibly, the executive of the Cavan county board made a u-turn on their decision of last Wedneday (July 22) to seek Carr's resignation and came out in support of the management team. However, a vote of no confidence was proposed and seconded by delegates from the floor. Prior to the vote being taken, however, a large number of delegates expressed concern that they had not received a mandate from their clubs on how to vote. The committee then agreed to schedule a meeting for next Tuesday, August 4, at which clubs will vote on the motion. Meanwhile, county minor manager Mickey Graham was ratified as county minor manager for next season, the final year in his agreed three-year term. More to follow.
