Referee David Gough called off today's clash with Tyrone.

Annoyance as Tyrone match called off

There was annoyance amongst Cavan's support who travelled to Omagh this afternoon for the Round 3 Allianz National League clash with Tyrone, only for the match to be called off by the referee half an hour before throw-in.

Healy Park was declared water logged, so when David Gough eventually called the match off at 1.27pm it came as no surprise to those supporters who had made the trip north.

Anglo-Celt's sports editor Paul Fitzpatrick branded the late decision to call-off it off as 'mad'.

'Was there any cahnge in that pitch from 11.27am and 1.27pm? It's not as if it was borderline, it was actually flooded in places. the game should have been called off long before.'

Former Cavan PRO Declan Woods tweeted: 'Absolutely mystified that referee couldn't inspect Healy Park any earlier than 1 hour & 15 minutes before scheduled throw-in.'

Mattie McGleenan now looks forward to facing Donegal in the next round of the league.
