California dreamin' becomes a reality for Drumgoon captain
So that was county final day, 2011 style - dreams realised, hearts broken and cups filled, same as it ever was. Cavan Gaels' quest for redemption is complete while Castlerahan and Crosserlough were vanquished, and Drumgoon ended a nine-year wait. The big day usually throws up something more, though, and this year was no different. This season's sub-plot began for Drumgoon captain Adrian Crossan when his team qualified for the final by beating Killeshandra on September 11. As the parish rejoiced, Adrian got thinking. The full-back was due to be married to Shercock girl Karen Ruxton four days later and would be living it up in California. Solution? Simple - return home for the weekend. So the bridal party landed on Saturday morning, Adrian took care of the square and secured the Gilroy Cup on Sunday afternoon and returned to San Fran Monday morning. Full story in this week's Anglo-Celt.
