Millions spent - only one user has signed up

Despite a multi-million euro investment, no businesses or individuals have signed up to the high-speed Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) installed by the Government in Kingscourt and Bailieboro; while just one business has signed up in Cootehill. The confirmation came last week from e net, the company charged with operating the networks, by the government. The facility has been available in Kingscourt since 2006, and 2009 in Bailieboro and Cootehill. Meanwhile, 22 connections have been made to the MAN in Cavan town since 2006 with a further ten broadband service providers taking capacity from the network to sell services onto their customers.
