LRC forges breakthrough in Lagan Brick dispute

Disgruntled workers at the Lagan Brick plant in Kingscourt have agreed to allow 300,000 bricks be removed from the facility for delivery to customers. The reprieve came after 29 employees, who had been informed that their jobs were gone, and management accepted Labour Relations Commission proposals aimed at resolving the dispute over redundancies. The company announced the Kingscourt plant's closure in mid-December with workers claiming they had to learn of the closure from shop stewards and they were given just an hour's notice.
