Strypes are 'Cool for Cats' at Cafe Sessions

Damian McCarney Legendary singer songwriter of eighties post-punk outfit Squeeze, Chris Difford is to share this week's billing of the Cavan Café Sessions, with a local band fast earning a similarly legendary reputation themselves, The Strypes. Currently working as their producer in the UK, double Ivor Novello Award-winning lyricist Difford will take to the Café Sessions stage with the Cavan lads tonight (Friday). The Strypes have just been hailed by NME as the number one band to watch out for, but the good news for Cavan music fans is that they won't have to watch out for long. The four piece are hooking up their amps on on familiar ground this week when they play the Café Sessions later this evening. Having the previous week wowed the star-studded audience at a bash at the Mayfair Hotel after the BB King documentary The Life of Riley premiere, in front of the likes of guitar greats Jeff Beck and Mick Taylor, the lads followed it up by featuring on the Buzz section of the latest issue of NME. None other than Paul Weller was quoted as saying, "They're stupidly young, but they really have it. They're great", comparing their career path to the Stones! Blue Valentines presents The Strypes at Café Sessions Chapter 1 this evening (Friday) October 25, at 8pm, changed from the usual Thursday billing. Support comes from fabulous poet Rebecca O'Connor of the Moth magazine. The event is assisted by Cavan Co. Council Arts Awards and live streamed at both www.cavantv.com and www.anglocelt.ie/cafesessions
