UPDATE: Further delay in hearing of McCarthy Brady case

A Boston judge has delayed a probable cause hearing in the case of Cavan nanny Aisling McCarthy Brady who accused of assaulting a baby who later died.

At the court hearing in Boston on Friday, defense lawyer acting on the Lavey-native's behalf argued against the postponement and also Mrs McCarthy Brady's $500,000 bail, which was said to be exessive.

Brady's lawyer says her client has been in custody for 65 days on high bail for the alleged assault, and that the murder charge prosecutors said was 'imminent' has remains unfiled.

The 34-year-old is currently charged with the assault and battery of Rehma Sabir, relating to an incident which is alleged to have occurred on January 14 earlier this year, and had pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Prosecutors though have said there are 'complex medical issues,' and asked for more time to finish the baby's autopsy before any hearing takes place.

The judge refused the application to reduce bail, granting the prosecution more time and adjourned proceeding for April 22 next.
