Quare festivities in store for International Rules Series

The Quare Land by John McManus will be staged on Friday 18th October at Cavan’s Kingspan Breffni Park as part of the Daily Mail International Rules Series festivities. The hilarious play has been packing GAA clubs, village halls and theatres nationwide since the beginning of August and has been seen by some 10,000 people.

The performance will see Seamus O’Rourke play the erstwhile Cavan farmer Hugh Pugh, caught in the act of having his first bath in 4 years by Rob McNulty, a property developer under pressure to buy a field from the eccentric Pugh.Hugh Pugh, however, is in no hurry and takes McNulty, played by Shane Carroll, and the audience on a bizarre and spellbinding journey through his nearly ninety years, all the while splashing around in an ancient bath tub.

“Because of our partnership with the GAA Social Initiative this is an ideal opportunity to showcase our tour of The Quare Land. We are delighted to be able to bring the production to a wider audience.” Says Will Govan of Moth Productions.
“We also have a unique partnership with our wonderful sponsors Cavan Institue and many of the students (Performing Arts, Sound Engineering and Music Students ) will be assisting us with this particular production, it will be a great opportunity for them to experience working in their chosen field.”

The Quare Land heralds the fourth successful theatre production from Moth Productions. Representatives from Croke Park will be attending the event, no doubt further cementing their relationship with the GAA Social Initiative which has been quoted by Colin Regan as “one of the stongest social initiative partnerships forged over the last number of years.”

The Quare Land will take place on Friday October 18th at 8.30pm in Kingspan Breffni Park.
Tickets available from Kingspan Breffni Park, local GAA clubs and will also be available on the door.
