Further arrest in sheelin double murder investigation

Gardai have arrested a man in relation to murder of Dublin men Eoin O’Connor (32) and Anthony Keegan (33) who disappeared when visiting the county earlier this year.

Gardai announced late last night they had arrested a male in his 50’s on Wednesday morning in the Meath area as part of the ongoing investigation into Mr O’Connor and Mr Keegan's deaths.

Their bodies were discovered on an island in Lough Sheelin, on the Meath side of the lake on the May 26 last.

At the time their bodies were found, both men had been reported missing for almost a month, having disappeared while visited the Ballyjamesduff area in Cavan in late April 2014.

The man arrested on Wednesday's is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at Kells Garda Station.

This is the third arrest to date in relation to this investigation, however, the man has since been released without charge and Gardai say investigations are on-going.
