Palatial Slieve Russell foyer and functions rooms transformed

Business is thriving at the Slieve Russell Hotel and the offering at this palatial setting has been further enhanced with the total transformation and modernisation of the expansive function rooms.

This is superbly complemented by the creation of a magnificent new arrivals area leading to the function rooms, complete with chandeliers and all neatly dovetailing into the foyer-reception area.
The renovation represents a significant investment overall for the hotel according to general manager, Tony Walker.
“It will help us to sustain our wedding business and grow it into the future,” he said.
Mr Walker told The Anglo-Celt that they are delighted with how this new arrivals transitory space has transformed the main lobby area. The gift shop has also been sited in a more advantageous location.
If affords a direct link to the Shannon Suite, where wedding pre-drinks receptions are held. When the guests exit from that suite, then can easily progress down a few steps and walk straight into the Woodford and Erne Suites, which can easily be transformed into one extensive function room, depending on the numbers attending the wedding.
The Hotel has wedding bookings already in place extending well into 2018 and only do a maximum of two weddings on any given day and the second wedding is facilitated in the Cranaghan Suite.
Exquisite new carpets have been fitted and the chandeliers that adorn the ceilings have been fitted to generate a warm inviting atmosphere and the new LED lighting cascading from the ceilings can be changed in colour to match the themes and moods of the function in progress courtesy of a touch screen. New ceilings, heating and ventilation has been installed and complete new wiring system and the toilets have been totally fitted upgraded.
Mr Walker, who is also the chair of the Cavan-Monaghan branch of the Irish Hotels Federation, noted that there are currently 4,600 jobs in tourism in this area, and contributes €90million annually to the economy.
“Domestic tourism is going to be very strong again this year – there was a good recovery last year and we see that continuing this year and the strength of sterling has been a huge help to us,” he said.
