Denizen is back in the limelight

The second instalment in Dave Rudden's brilliant Knights of the Borrowed Dark trilogy is set to hit the shelves of book stores nationwide in the coming weeks.

In the Bawnboy novelist’s forthcoming fantasy book, 'The Forever Court', life is returning to normal for the teenage hero, Denizen Hardwick having discovered he’s part of a secret order to protect the world against the darkness. Well, the new normal, where he has to battle monsters in quiet Dublin bookshops and constantly struggle to contain the new powers he has been given by Mercy, the daughter of the Endless King. But Denizen may need those powers sooner than he thinks - not only are the Tenebrous stirring again but the Order of the Borrowed Dark face a new threat from much closer to home...
There's great anticipation for book two of Knights of the Borrowed Dark after Dave's debut book scooped the Irish Children’s Book of the Year and received rave reviews.
'Rudden is an author to watch,' contended the Guardian. 'Knights of the Borrowed Dark is a pacy, entertaining read, but it has heart too.'
'Dave Rudden is a find,' echoed the Sunday Times, adding, 'it is most notable for writerly wit and unexpected turns of phrase... this is engaging storytelling for any age.'
Dave holds a first class honours Creative Writing Masters from University College Dublin and his short stories and poetry have been published in such journals as Bare Hands, Wordlegs and the Quotable. He was shortlisted for the Bath Short Stories Prize 2013, longlisted for the Fish Poetry Prize 2013 and won the Fantasy Book Review Short Story Prize.
To mark the launch of the new book, the Celt will have a feature interview with the 29-year-old in the edition of Thursday, April 13, and have a competition five autographed copies of 'The Forever Court' up for grabs.
