Gardai praised for retrieving backpack

An Garda Siochana in Cavan Town were hailed as heroes by a Co Tyrone rock band after members quickly reacted and managed to retrieve a backpack that “went walk abouts” at a venue at the weekend.

Gardai were alerted to an alleged incident after the bag carrying high-end performance equipment went missing on Saturday night last, February 16. The bag went missing while the band, 'The Logues', were in process of setting up prior to going on stage.
The bag was located and returned to the band members by Gardai Seamus Herron and Christine Breslin who were on patrol in Cavan Town at the time.
The band subsequently showed their appreciation by posing for a photo with the local members.
Gardai posted on social media after the incident to say: “While setting up for the gig a bag of their expensive equipment went walk abouts. With the help of local businesses and members of the public we identified the culprits and retrieved the stolen equipment. We were delighted to return it to the boys.”
The band themselves replied by saying: “Couldn’t speak highly enough of your crew last night. Delighted to be reunited with our property. Thanks guys, you do a great job. Stay safe.”
