European tallies completed in Cavan

 

With 66 per cent of 134 ballot boxes opened in the European elections opened, counting has concluded in a the Cavan count centre, with counting now started on the Divorce Referendum.

As expected, Fianna Fail’s Brendan Smith has polled highest, with 7421 tallied votes out of what has been counted. That equates to 36.76%.

Next is Fine Gael’s Mairead McGuinness, whose name was a consistent appearance on ballot papers as they were being sorted, on 4634/22.94%.

Sinn Fein’s Matt Carthy, with 2897/14.34% has also received wide support across Cavan-Monaghan as he too seeks a return to Brussels representing the Midlands North West region.

Locally, Flanagan is polling in fourth, which reflects the mood nationally or so it would seem, followed by Independent and failed presidential candidate Peter Casey on 1071/ 5.30%.

Of the remaining field, again with just two thirds of boxes opened, Fine Gael’s Maria Walsh  is next nearest, on 805/3.99%, and the Green Party’s Saoirse McHugh on 912/4.52%.

What’s left- PBP’s Brennan is on 207/1.02%, Greene (DDI) 30/0.15%, Hannigan (Lab) 151/0.75%, Healy (Ind) 247/ 1.22%, Mahapatra (Ind) 37/0.18%, Miller (Ind) 21/0.10%, Mulcachy (Ind) 9/0.04%, O’Connor (Ind) 66/0.33%, O’Dowd (Ren) 96/0.48%, and Rabbitte (FF) 172/0.85%.
