Drug awareness and prevention meeting for CMX

An information night for parents concerned about drug awareness and prevention Information Night will take place in Carrickmacross next week.

The event is being organised by Monaghan County Council and will be hosted at the Shirley Arms Hotel on Tuesday, March 3.

The meeting starts at 7.30pm, with the main speakers to include Sgt Mick Kearney, attached to the Cavan-Monaghan Drugs Unit, and Tim Murphy, Cavan-Monaghan Drug Awareness.

The dedicated drug unit for the Cavan-Monaghan Garda Division was re-established back in 2017, after being disbanded in 2011.

Cavan/Monaghan and Laois/Offaly were at the time the only Garda Divisions in the country without a dedicated drugs unit.

CDA Trust CLG meanwhile provides support for drug and alcohol issues throughout counties Cavan and Monaghan. Outreach services are also available in Bailieborough, Ballybay, Castleblayney, Carrickmacross and Cootehill.
