WEATHER: Heavy scattered showers forecast

Cavan is enduring a damp start to the day with outbreaks of rain and drizzle clearing southeastwards during the morning.

Sunny spells and scattered showers will follow, according to Met Éireann, as the rain clears for the rest of the day, some heavy. Ulster will become mainly dry by evening. Maximum temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees but turning cooler later in the day. Fresh to strong west to southwest winds.

Tonight will be mostly dry and turning rather chilly early tonight but showers will spread from the west later in the night. Minimum temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees occurring early in the night. South or southwest winds will strengthen overnight.

Tomorrow is set to be cold and blustery with sunny spells and showers. The showers will merge to longer spells of rain during the day and there is a risk of some wintry falls. Highest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees in strong southwest winds.
