Weather: Sunny spells promised across May Bank Holiday weekend

The weather for the May bank holiday weekend is looking a little unsettled but with some good sunny spells throughout.
Met Éireann says that today (Friday) will be relatively cool and showery. The showers will be heaviest and most frequent in the northwest, merging into longer spells of rain here with the risk of hail and thunder.
Some sunny spells are forecast too, the best of these early on in the day. Highest temperatures will range 9 and 11 degrees Celsius, in moderate to fresh west to northwest breezes.
Showers will become confined to north and northwest counties early tonight. Overall, tonight will be dry with long clear spells and just light northwest breezes. It will be a chilly night with lowest temperatures ranging from 2 to 5 degrees Celsius.
Tomorrow (Saturday) will begin dry. The national weather forecaster says there will be sunny spells to begin and end the day, but becoming cloudier during the afternoon. It will feel a little less cool with highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees Celsius.
Current indications for Sunday suggest most areas should remain dry with sunny spells and just light variable breezes. Highest temperatures will range 12 to 17 degrees Celsius, mildest across the midlands and west. Chilly after dark with lowest temperatures ranging 2 to 6 degrees Celsius.
The outlook for Bank Holiday Monday is that most areas will remain dry with hazy sunshine and light easterly breezes. Highest temperatures 12 to 17/18 degrees Celsius, mildest across the west and southwest owing to an easterly flow. After-dark lowest temperatures will range 4 to 8 degrees, in moderate southeast breezes.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, May 5, most areas should stay dry with sunny spells and moderate easterly breezes. Highest temperatures will range 10 to 16 degrees.
