Leona features in 'Future for Women in Sport' doc

The 20x20 movement (pronounced twenty by twenty), believes that Ireland has reached a critical stage for women’s sport and that the choices made next will be crucial.

Local sportstar Leona Maguire is one of two Irish professional golfers to star as part of a multi-award-winning campaign, titled: ‘The Future for Women in Sport: Choose What’s Next’.

The campaign is being run by 20x20, in partnership with KPMG, and Leona Maguire features alongside Dublin LGFA star Sinéad Aherne in the new 11-minute documentary posted available online.

The 20x20 movement (pronounced twenty by twenty), believes that Ireland has reached a critical stage for women’s sport and that the choices made next will be crucial.

The initiative, facilitated by the support of commercial partners AIG, Investec, KPMG and Lidl and championed by Ireland’s National Governing Bodies of sport, Local Sports Partnerships and clubs and universities around the country, is calling on the people of Ireland to get behind female sport in a concerted effort to increase media coverage, boost attendances, and grow participation.

Their slogan is ‘If She Can’t See It, She Can’t Be It’.

From next Thursday, September 17, the second stage of the campaign will roll out across 20x20 and KPMG’s social media platforms. This stage will call on the public and all other stakeholders to engage with the hashtag, #ThinkItAskIt – urging them to think about the future of women’s sport in Ireland with the simple act of asking a question as the starting point for great change.
