Green light for new Breffni Air factory and gas plant compound at Crossdoney

Cavan firm Breffni Air has secured planning permission in respect of the development of a second industrial unit at the IDA Cavan Business Park.

The company sought to alter the permission previously granted to include a reduction in the overall building height, provide additional floor area, and to also make associated alterations to floor plans and elevations, as well as site layout and boundaries at Site Seven.

Breffni Air had applied to build two fully-serviced, factory units, each incorporating two-storey administration and staff facility areas at Sites Six and Seven at the Killygarry grounds.One of the two units has been completed and is currently in use by the business, with work on the second still underway.

Permission on the alteration was granted with 11 conditions attached.

Farragh Proteins plant

Separately, a local animal rendering plant has been given the green light to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant. Farragh Proteins made the application to install an LNG Plant compound together with two 131m3 horizontal tanks and two associated ambient vaporisers at their facility at Legaland and Monnery Upper, Crossdoney.

The application, submitted to the planning section of Cavan County Council, also sought permission to build a regulation station, electrical control room and all other associated ancillary site works.

Also covered in the proposed development is plans for a new service road from existing site, site boundaries, landscaping and site development works.

The existing development has an IPPC EPA Licence.

Planning permission was granted with 21 conditions attached.
