Fire service battles blaze at 'Skea egg plant

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) said that 10 fire appliances had been deployed to the incident on the Crom Road.

Up to 10 fire service appliances are battling a blaze at an industrial food factory in Fermanagh.

Fire broken out earlier this morning (around 10.58am)at the Ready Eggs site in Lisnaskea.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) said that 10 fire appliances had been deployed to the incident on the Crom Road.

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) spokesperson posted on social media: “Firefighters are currently in attendance at a fire at a large derelict shed at an industrial food factory on Crom Road, Lisnaskea.

“Firefighters were called to the incident at 10.58am this morning.

“There are currently 10 fire appliances in attendance, including a high volume pumping appliance, two aerial appliances and a water tanker. The incident is ongoing.”

The Ready Eggs plant, based at Manor Waterhouse Farm, on the Crom Road processes an estimated one million eggs per day.

The company was started in 1975 by local man Charles Crawford.

Last year the company was operating with a workforce of approximately 180.
