'Fish' waste clean-up at N3 roundabout

In total three appliances attended, while members of An Garda Siochana managed a stop-go traffic system to ensure the safety of the crew whilst the clean-up was complete.

Emergency services were involved in a complicated clean up on the N3 roundabout at Belturbet yesterday evening.

Suspected fish waste was reported spilled at the junction prompting members attached to Belturbet fire Station CN18 A1/ J1/RSO to attend the scene shortly after 4:30pm on Wednesday, December 2.

On request, the Belturbet fire service was supported in the clean-up operation, which involved extensive hosing of the road surface.

After the clean up had finished, the Belturbet fire crew paid tribute to their friend and colleague Derek Crow, Driver Mechanic, who retired at midnight last night, after 32 years service attached to Ballyconnell station.
