SVdP appeal for Christmas collection

The Coronavirus has had a serious impact on the fundraising of many voluntary organisations including the Society of St Vincent de Paul in Cavan Town.

The Christmas door-to-door collection is the society’s primary source of income to help many people in difficulty this Christmas; as well as funding the Winter Fuel Scheme for the elderly.

The members cannot go door to door this year and are instead posting an appeal into all households outlining possible ways of donating:Dropping an envelope into the St Vincent de Paul box at the door of the Cathedral; donating directly to their account in Bank of Ireland, Cavan: Sort Code: 903293. Account: 32985764 or give a donation to any society member.

A spokesperson said: “The Society is helping people in need in Cavan since 1887 and the people of he town never let them down, through two world wars and now a pandemic. The members are deeply conscious of the trust placed in them by the local people.”
