Edward Joseph (Eddie) Duffy

Whitegate, Edenburt, Virginia, Cavan

The death has occurred peacefully of Edward Joseph ( Eddie) Duffy, Whitegate, Edenburt, Virginia, Co Cavan at Cavan General Hospital on January 10, 2021. Predeceased by his sisters Baby Anne and Rosella.

Deeply regretted by his loving wife Philomena, his children Francis, Majella, Eamon and Brian, his sister Mary (Travers), his beloved grandchildren Ellen, Eve, John, Noah, Sorcha, Cara, Lucy and Matt, his daughters in law Maria, Lorraine and Jennifer, his son in law Michael, his brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, good neighbours and friends.

The funeral procession will depart Matthews Funeral Home on Monday at 1.15 via Whitegate Cross to arrive to St. Matthew's Church, Maghera for 2 o’clock Funeral Mass. Burial in the adjoining cemetery.

In compliance with current Covid 19 guidelines, Eddie’s Funeral Mass will be restricted to family members only. People are invited to form a guard of honour, if they so wish to, along the route of the funeral cortege from Matthews Funeral Home, Virginia via Whitegate Cross to St. Matthew’s Church, as a mark of respect.

The family would like to thank you all for your kindness understanding and support at this sad time. In particular they would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and dedication of all who looked after Eddie in Cavan General Hospital – Medical 3 and Surgical 2 and to Sheelin Nursing Home in Mountnugent as your exceptional care and attention to Eddie will never be forgotten.

Sheila Erickson (née O'Reilly)

Ryefield, Virginia, Cavan

The death has occurred of Shiela Erickson (nee O’Reilly), Ryefield, Virginia, County Cavan. Peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Sadly missed by her adoring husband, Billy, son Peter, daughter Mary, brother Frank, sister Marian, son in law Brian, daughter in law Derval and her much loved grandchildren Johnny, Katie, Tadhg, Sean, Oscar and Ped, great grandchild Lily, nephews, and nieces.

Sheila’s family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her carers, public health nurses and the Occupational Therapy Department of Virginia Primary Care for their exceptional care and attention.

May Her Gentle Soul Rest In Peace.

Departing from her residence on Monday, January 11th, at 1.40pm for arrival at St. Bartholomew's Church, Munterconnaught, Virginia, County Cavan for Funeral Mass at 2pm. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Patrick Mulligan

Gort, Galway / Kingscourt, Meath / Kingscourt, Cavan

The death has occurred of Patrick Mulligan, Gort, Co. Galway and formerly of Rolagh, Kingscourt,Co. Meath, suddenly at his home, 9th January, 2021.

Predeceased by his father Patrick. Deeply regretted by his daughter Siobhan, mother Sarah Jane (Jenny), brothers John, Gerard, Paul, Kieran, Noel and sisters Sarah & Anna. Sadly missed by grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relative and friends.

Owen Tavey

Crover, Broomfield, Castleblayney, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Owen Tavey, Crover, Broomfield, Co. Monaghan, Sunday, 10th January 2021, at home, in the loving care of his devoted family. Predeceased by his sister Bridget, brothers John, Paddy and Vincent. Deeply regretted and lovingly missed by his wife Margaret, sons Raymond and Finbarr, daughters Yvonne and Déarbhla, grandchildren, brothers Peter (Newry), Thomas (Dublin) and Eamon (Castleblayney) daughter in-law Maria, son’s in-law Paddy and Anthony, brother in-law, sister’s in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and wide circle of friends.

In line with guidelines issued by the government and the HSE, Owen’s wake, funeral Mass and burial will be strictly private (limited to 10).

Bannaghbane, Stranooden, Monaghan

peacefully at St. Anne’s Nursing Home, Ballybay.

Sadly missed by his brother Jim, nephews Declan and Ciaran, relatives and friends. R.I.P.

Funeral Mass in St. Michael’s Church, Corcaghan tomorrow Monday at 2.30p.m. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Mary Shannon (née Hamilton)

Edenforan, Latton, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Mary Shannon (née Hamilton), Edenforan, Latton, Co. Monaghan. Passed away peacefully at her home in the loving care of her family on the 9th of January 2021, following her illness of motor neuron disease. Predeceased by her loving husband Pat. Sadly missed by her daughter Aisling Byrne, sons Ronan, Patrick, Finnian and Tiernan, son-in-law Paul Byrne, daughters-in-law, Arlene, Eilis and Emma. Brother and sister in law John and Mary Hamilton (Carnaveigh), Brothers in law Eugene Shannon (Drumhowan) and Hughie Duffy (Drumhowan) grandchildren, Cera, Amy, Daniel, Cein, Clodagh, Donncha, Isla, Amelia, and Lugh-Patrick, neices, nephews, neighbours and many friends.

May Mary's Gentle Soul Rest In Eternal Peace.

Due to government advice regarding public gatherings, a private family requiem Mass will take place at St. Mary's Church, Latton on Monday the 11th of January at 11.00am. Burial immediately afterwards in adjoining cemetery. Funeral Mass will be live streamed on the following link https://www.churchservices.tv/latton
