€250K cannabis accused to appear in court this morning

A man in his 30s, arrested over the weekend in connection with the seizure of an estimated €250,000 worth of suspected cannabis plants at Carrickmacross, is due to appear in court today.

The man has been charged and will appear before Monaghan District Court this morning in connection with the find.

Gardaí in Carrickmacross seized 300 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €250,000 (analysis pending) on Saturday, February 20.

Shortly after 11.30pm, Gardaí carried out the night time search of a house in the Carrickmacross area. During the course of the search, a cultivation unit with over 300 plants was discovered.

A man in his 30s was arrested under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Investigations are ongoing.
