Laragh laughs once more

Members of the Laragh Variety Show refused to let Coronavirus and rolling lockdowns put a stop to their antics and have taken on the Jerusalema challenge with a twist.

The cast and crew took their show on the road last week to record at different locations throughout the parish and put a video together to lift the spirits of the community.

The action commences with a hilarious clip of a priest entering the local church and being escorted out by a Garda who had been lying in wait.

The groups involved include Foróige, Camogie Group, Country Chorus, Comedy Group, Gala Course and the stage staff.

“All groups met individually and practised in our local carparks with social distancing in place. Some of the groups had not seen each other in 13 months, it was great seeing some of them again, we felt like a family that had been separated and were finally back together again even if it was only for a short time,” said Laragh Variety Show PRO Fionnuala Smith.

“With the lock down happening, it was important for everybody to link up and this challenge afforded that opportunity in a safe manner,” said Benny Sexton, a long-standing member of the group.

Fionnuala says they are keeping their fingers crossed that everyone involved will get on stage next year when restrictions are lifted.

A word of thanks to all who took part in the challenge and those who made the video.
