It is with regret that we note the deaths in our community over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Anna Bernadette (Detta) Dowling (née Smyth)

Greenwich, London and formerly of Crossbane, Mullagh, Cavan

The death has occurred of Detta, formerly of Crossbane, Mullagh, Co. Cavan. Predeceased by her husband Sam, her parents Thomas and Anna her brothers Phil, Killian, Sean and Tom. Detta will be sadly missed by her large and loving family, her much loved daughters Sarah and Deirdre, her grandchildren Aidan, Ciaran and Harrison, and son in law Erik. Fondly remembered by her brothers Brendan, Paul and Gene, sisters Rosemarie, Mary and Carmel and their families, also the Dowling family Paul, Brendan, Niamh, Dermot and Nora and their families.

May her gentle and loving soul rest in peace.

Funeral to be held at 11.30am on 17 May 2021 in Hither Green, London.

Eithne FEIGHERY

Late of Virginia, Co. Cavan and former Lady Captain, Castletroy Golf Club

Eithne died (peacefully) at Thorpe’s Nursing Home. Beloved wife of the late Kieran P. and dearest mother of Gerard, Ultan and Verona (Mullane). Deeply regretted by her family, son-in-law Donal, grandchildren Kieran and Mark, Emer, Orna and Aoife, Danielle, Ross, Muireann and Cian, great grandchildren Grace, Ben, Niamh and Maeve, brother Ralph, sisters Breda & Doreen, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Rest in Peace.

Due to the ongoing Government advice on public gatherings, a private family Mass will take place for Eithne at St. Joseph’s Church, O’Connell Ave on Saturday, May 1st, at 1.30pm. and will be live streamed (LINK). Funeral afterwards to Kilmurry Cemetery, Castletroy.

Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, New York & formerly Beagh, Killinkere, Virginia, Cavan

Sister Rosaleen Sheridan, Marymount Convent, Tarrytown, New York & formerly Beagh, Killinkere, Virginia, Co. Cavan, died 27th April 2021 , peacefully surrounded by her loving community. Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Annie, her sisters Miriam O Connell and Bernadette Greene, brothers Terry, John, Michael, Fr Paddy and Edward. Deeply regretted by her sister Sue Sheanon, sisters in laws Mary, Betty and Rena, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandniece, neighbours and friends.

Sr. Canice Durkan

St. Louis Convent, Monaghan Town, Monaghan

(and formerly Co. Mayo)

peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Cavan General Hospital.

Predeceased by her parents Martin and Mary and her brothers Noel and Fr. Sean.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her cousins, her St. Louis Communities in Monaghan, Middletown, and California, U.S.A. and her many friends.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Thursday (29/04/2021) at 11 a.m. in St. John’s Church, Middletown, Co. Armagh subject to social distancing and Covid 19 restrictions.

Teresa McDonald (née Carragher)

Conabury, Castleblayney, Monaghan / Crossmaglen, Armagh

The death has occurred of Teresa McDonald (née Carragher), Conabury, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, formerly Tullyard, Crossmaglen. Peacefully at her home, Wednesday 28th April 2021, surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her husband Pat, deeply regretted by her loving family, her children, Paraic, Sinéad, Séan, Róisin, Aoife and Áine, grandchildren Moya, Ella, Tara, Ben, Amy, Sadbh, Fiadh, Riley and Archie, sisters Margie, Rita and Rose, sons-in-law Conor, Liam and Brian, daughters-in-law Ivonne and Kerry-Anne, extended family neighbours and friends.

Teresa will repose privately at her home among her family.

There will be an opportunity for neighbours and friends to pay their respects by lining the route in a safe and socially distanced manner, from her home as Teresa’s funeral cortège travels to St. Mary’s Church, Castleblayney, for requiem Mass on Friday morning (30th April) at 11am with burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, where Teresa will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband Pat.

Annie McElmeel

1 Deravoy, Emyvale, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Annie McElmeel, 1 Deravoy, Emyvale, Co. Monaghan. Wednesday, 28th April, peacefully in her 91st year at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Pre-deceased by her husband Peter and her son Paul. Annie will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Kathleen, Philomena & Caroline, sons Patrick & Terence, sons in law, daughters in law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters Dympna Shortt & Philomena McElmeel, extended family and friends.

Esther McManus (née Cassidy)

Glaslough Street and Limegrove, Monaghan Town, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Esther Mc Manus ( née Cassidy ) Glaslough Street and Limegrove, Monaghan Town and formerly of Sessiagh, Carneyhill, Arney, Co Fermanagh. Peacefully after a short illness, at her home on Tuesday, 27th April 2021, surrounded by her family.

Resting at her home. House private to close family. Removal on Friday, 30th April, at 10am. Mass in St. Macartan’s Cathedral at 11am. Burial afterwards in Latlurcan Cemetery.

Esther is predeceased by her husband James, parents John Bernard and Mary Josephine Cassidy, her sister Queenie and her brothers Bertie, Philip and Jarlath.

Her physical presence will be missed by her loving family and friends. Her inspiration and loving spiritual presence will always be with us in the hearts, minds and souls of

- her daughters Paula Gannon, Hilda, Clare Crainie, Audrey Harraghy, Jacqueline Harraghy, Geraldine Flynn, and sons Richard and Séamus.

- her sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, and partners Jim, Shane, Gillies, Noel, Aiden, Dave, Judy and Anne.

- her 18 grandchildren – Darragh, Conor, Grace, John Noe, Carlos, Cormac, Brian, Garbhán, Muireann, Hannah, Katie, Aoife, Eimear, Oisín, Clíodhna, Niall, Mark, and Luke.

- her many loving nieces and nephews.

- her sister-in-law Vera Cassidy, her Galway cousins the Steade and Lyons families and her extended USA and English family.

- and her wider family and many wonderful friends and neighbours.

Barry John O'Mahony

Clane, Kildare / Monaghan

Barry John O'Mahony (Clane, Co Kildare and Manorwood, Monaghan), suddenly, 26th April 2021.

Sadly missed by his parents Noel and Noreen, brother Gerard, sister Cara and their partners Úna and Andrew, nephews Thomas, Ryan and Cian, niece Áine, extended family, relatives and friends.

Removal from the family home on Thursday at 1.15pm to St Macartan’s Cathedral for Requiem Mass at 2pm. Burial afterwards in Latlurcan Cemetery.

In keeping with HAE / government guidelines, the house and funeral will be private.
