Fresher weather conditions in the coming days

Weather Update

Fresher weather conditions are being forecast by Met Éireann for the coming days with scattered showers and sunny spells. The national weather forecaster says showers will be most frequent in the west. Weather is set to become unsettled at the weekend with rain at times.

Today will be dry with hazy sunny spells in eastern and southern areas to begin. Mostly cloudy in the west and northwest, however, with patchy rain and drizzle developing here this morning. Becoming cloudier and breezier generally through the afternoon and evening as the rain and drizzle slowly extends over the western half of the country, but the east and southeast will remain dry. Highs of 15 to 22 degrees, warmest in the east, in moderate to fresh southerly winds.

Rain turning light and patchy will gradually extend eastwards to all areas early tonight. Clear spells and scattered showers will follow into the west later. Lows of 9 to 13 degrees, in moderate southwesterly winds, fresh along west and northwest coasts.

Cloudy in the east and southeast tomorrow (Wednesday) with patchy light rain and drizzle at times. Clearer weather with sunny spells and scattered showers in the western half of the country, will extend to all areas later. It will be a fresher day overall, with highs of 15 to 17 degrees, in light to moderate southwesterly winds.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Becoming mostly dry overnight with good clear spells developing and just a few light showers in western parts. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees, in a light southwesterly breeze.

THURSDAY: A mostly sunny start on Thursday, with scattered showers quickly developing in the west. It will stay largely dry further east, however cloud will increase during the afternoon. Highs, similar to Wednesday, of 15 to 18 degrees, in a mostly light west to northwest breeze.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Becoming mostly dry and clear overnight, with just well scattered showers in the west and north. Cool, with lows of 4 to 8 degrees, in a light northwest breeze.

FRIDAY: Generally dry on Friday with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Highs of only 14 to 17 degrees, but it will feel pleasant in sunnier spells as winds will be light.

SATURDAY: Starting dry on Saturday with sunny spells in the east, but rain will push into western parts through the morning, extending to all areas through the afternoon and evening. Highs of 14 to 18 degrees in moderate southerly winds, increasing fresh to strong on coasts.

SUNDAY: Cloudy, with further showery rain at times in all areas on Sunday. Highs of only 14 to 16 degrees.
