Cash, Rolex watches and cars seized in latest CAB raid

The search operation took place on Thursday, July 29.

Expensive design watches and several high-value vehicles were among the items seized when member of the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) and searched 12 locations in Co Longford earlier this week, including several near the Cavan border.

Among the dozen sites searches by CAB officers, who were assisted by members attached the armed Emergency Response Unit, Regional Armed Support Unit local Gardaí, the Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit and the Customs Dog Unit, were properties in the Granard area.

The search operation took place on Thursday, July 29.

During the course of the operation, €10,000 cash was seized and over €78,000 was restrained in various bank accounts.

A 212 Ford Focus (€26,400) and a 172 Nissan Navara (€27,000) were also lifted, as were three Rolex watches, a Cherry picker, and a swath of financial documents and electronic devices.

The spokesperson said that the operation was conducted as part of an “on-going” Criminal Assets Bureau investigation into assets, including properties linked to a “significant midlands based Organised Crime Gang” that are believed to be involved in the “sale and supply of drugs and vehicle crime”.
