Changeable conditions until after weekend

Rain will turn more persistent in west Ulster this evening.

It will be dry this morning for most parts of Co Cavan, with some bright spells in the east of the county where it will hold largely dry for much of the day.

However, it is expected to be cloudy elsewhere, with the possibility of outbreaks of rain and drizzle further west, that will eventually spread further east across the province later in the day.

“Rain will turn more persistent in west Ulster this evening. Highest temperatures 17 to 19 degrees. Turning breezier through the day with southerly winds freshening,” predicts national forecaster Met Eireann.

Tonight will continue to be cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain, set to turn heavier overnight and more persistent.

Breezy with fresh southerly winds, strong at times near coasts, with temperatures not falling below 13 to 15 degrees.

Tomorrow (Friday) will be wet with overnight rain continuing, and further heavy falls possible.

“Gradually brightening up in west Ulster through the day with sunshine developing and a few showers to follow. Rain will linger in the east of Ulster through the day.”

Highest temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees with fresh to strong southerly winds persisting for a time in east Ulster, winds easing to main a light northwesterly elsewhere.
