Redemption gets UK screening

The UK premier of Philip Doherty's Redemption of a Rogue takes place tonight. Doherty's film tells the story of Jimmy, a nihilist carrying around a black leather doctor’s bag containing the rope he plans to hang himself with. Filled with guilt and shame, he returns to his hometown in the cold austere beauty of West Cavan.

Philip has won a number of awards, including the Kimolos International Film Festival in Greece, Galway, Glasgow and Minneapolis for his Cavan-set debut film produced by Pale Rebel Productions.

Doherty told the Celt of the film: “It’s very much a comedy, even if it is a black comedy, and I love trying to find comedy in the darkest of situations. I think no matter how unbearable things get it is humour that lifts you out of those situations. The change of mood is the main story in the transformation of Jimmy,” he outlines.
