Sillan Vintage Club had a great turn out for a special tractor run last month and raised over €7,000 for a great cause.

Scores of vehicles turned out on Sunday, November 7 for the successful run in the local area. A total of €7,429 was raised and Ann Lynch, Charlie O'Reilly and Sheila Hamilton were happy to receive the funds on behalf of Shercock Killann Cancer Group at a presentation event in The Drop Inn. The money raised was was used to help cover expenses for a local man undergoing treatment abroad.

"We'd like to thank anyone who attended on the day, donated or helped in any way," vintage club secretary Aisling Clarke told the Celt.

She was also grateful to Brian and Pauline Ruggles of The Drop Inn for providing refreshments for the large volume of participants on the day of the run.

The vintage club has been running since 2011 and has approximately 45 members.

"We organise runs from time to time, but it's special occasions like this where you would get a great turn-out in support of a fundraiser."
