Green light for medical centre

Cavan County Council planners have given planning permission for a medical centre at Lisdaran, Cavan Town. The application by Lisdaran Partnership is to erect a fully-serviced, three-storey medical centre on the outskirts of the county town.

Included is permission to allow the extension of the existing access road, associated parking, drop off areas, associated bicycle spaces, connection to public foul drainage system and watermain, landscaping and all ancillary site works.

The application relates to a greenfield site to the north of Cavan General hospital. It’s approximately 1.5km from the centre of Cavan Town.

The local authority received an objection to the plan from town planning consultant, David Mooney of Cloughjordan, Tipperary, on behalf of Jim Ellior of Rockwell House, Drumeils, Cavan. The objection focused on the scale of the project, the roads infrastructure of the area, and its impact on previously permitted nursing homes in the area.

Mr Ellior also made a personal submission on a masterplan submitted as part of the further information provided by the Partnership.

Planners approved the application subject to 32 conditions.
