Arrest after car broken into in Cavan Town

Spate of burglaries and break-ins

Local gardaí are investigating a number of break-ins and burglaries at properties across the region.

The latest involved a theft from a car in the early hours of Tuesday morning, June 28.

The incident occurred on College Street in Cavan Town at approximately 3:30am following which a male, aged in his early 20's, was arrested a short distance from the scene.

Gardaí are asking the public if there were any similar incidents in the vicinity please report the matter to 049 4368800.

Burglaries

Gardaí in Monaghan meanwhile are investigating a burglary at a house in the Moyetra area during which a sum of cash was stolen.

The incident occurred between 4:30pm and 7pm on Saturday, June 25, and investigating officers are asking that anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the Clontibret/Castleshane areas to contact them.

It follows a break-in which occurred in the Mandistown area of Drumconrath, north Meath, last week.

Gardaí in Monaghan area also continuing their appeal for information in relation to an incident of criminal damage the entrance gate and the sign to fishing facilities at South Lodge near Castleblayney on the night of Monday, May 30.
