It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Jayne Shekleton-Nefedova

Cabra View, Kingscourt, Cavan

Jayne Shekleton-Nefedova, Cabra View, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan passed away with her adored husband Andrew by her side, surrounded by her family and in the loving care and kindness of the staff of Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan, 26th August 2022.

Predeceased by her father Cecil, beloved wife of Andrew, Jayne will be sadly missed by her son Kristofer, her mother Vera, sisters Patricia, Libby & Susan, brother Billy, brother-in-law John, sister-in-law Margaret, nephew David, godmothers auntie Jean and auntie Mary, uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

“Butterflies and zebras and moonbeams and fairy tales, that's all she ever thinks about, riding with the wind.”

Clonbrusk West, Athlone, Westmeath / Cavan / Ballyshannon, Donegal

Unexpectedly on Thursday 25th August 2022. Clonbrusk West, Coosan, Athlone, Co. Westmeath and formerly of Cavan and Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal. (Retired Detective, An Garda Síochána). Predeceased by his brothers and sister. Sadly missed by his loving wife Sadie, daughters Jacqueline (Jackie) and Emma (Daly), son Mark, sisters Marie and Margaret, son-in-law Nigel, grandchildren Katlyn, Hannah, Tom, and Shane, in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Rest In Peace.

Reposing at his residence (Clonbrusk West) on Sunday evening from 2pm until 5pm. Requiem Mass on Monday in Our Lady's Queen of Peace Church, Coosan at 12 noon followed by burial afterwards in Coosan Cemetery.

House private on Saturday and on Monday morning please.

Pat's family are still very conscious of the fact that Covid is still present and would appreciate if social distancing, face covering and no hand-shaking took place during the funeral.

Peter Comiskey

Crosses, Monaghan Town, Monaghan, H18 Y066

The death has occurred of Peter Comiskey, Crosses, Monaghan, Thursday, 25th August, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Pre-deceased by his dear wife Bridie. Peter will be lovingly remembered by his 6 children, Mary, Therese, Ann, Peadar, Aedamar & Frances together with Kasia & Anne whose wonderful care and attention enabled him to stay in his family home. He will be hugely missed by his beloved brother Brendan, sister in law, daughter in law, sons in law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Peter’s remains will repose at his home, Crosses, Monaghan, H18 Y066, from 3pm - 8pm Sunday, 28th August. House otherwise private, please. Funeral Mass on Monday morning at 11am at St. Macartan’s Cathedral, Monaghan; https://www.mcnmedia.tv/camera/st-macartans-cathedral-monaghan. Burial afterwards in Latlurcan New Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired, to St.Joseph’s Renovation Fund c/o Peter McMahon, McMahons Funeral Home, Emyvale or any family member.

Brigid Dignam (née Mone)

Drumlin View, Tullynacrunnat, Castleblayney, Monaghan

DIGNAM (née Mone) Brigid (Drumlin View, Tullynacrunnat, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan) - August 25, 2022. Peacefully at her home. Predeceased by her mother Catherine and father James Mone, brothers Philip and Patrick and sisters Mary and Jacinta. Sadly missed by her husband Raymond, daughters Geraldine, Catherine and Annette and son Raymond Paul, daughter in law Jane and son in law Anthony, grandchildren Janine, Christina, Jonathan, Joseph Kayleigh, Ciabhán, Jack, Anthony, Annabel and Matilda, great-grandchildren Josh and Patrick, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends.

Rest in Peace.

House strictly private at all times. Removal on Monday, the 29th of August, leaving the house at 10.30am and arriving at St. Mary’s Church, for funeral mass at 11.00am, followed by burial in adjoining cemetery.

Tony Strong

Drumharriff South, Broomfield, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Tony Strong, Drumharriff South, Broomfield, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan. Thursday, 25th August 2022, peacefully at Castleross Retirement Village surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his father Johnny, mother Mary and his sister Anna (Coleman). Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his brothers Pat, Liam and Cousin Gerry Strong, his sisters in-law Mary and Maura, brother in-law Brian (Coleman), nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing at the residence of Pat & Mary Drumganis, Broomfield Eircode A75 D409 on Saturday, 27th August, from 3.00pm to 8.00pm and again on Sunday, 28th August, 3.00pm to 8.00pm. Removal on Monday, 29th August, at 10.30am arriving to St. Patrick's Church, Broomfield for Requiem Mass at 11.00am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
