New works at Belturbet school approved

There's been confirmation that new toilet facilities are to be provided at St Bricin's College in Belturbet.

Already subject of major upgrade plans, the latest project will be incorporated into the overall revamp.

News of upgraded toilet facilities will be welcomed by the school community, given ongoing issues with a lack of facilities.

Local TD Brendan Smith received confirmation of the works today:

“I welcome the confirmation from the Department of Education that approval has issued to Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board in respect of the upgrading of toilet facilities at St. Bricin’s College, Belturbet."

The Department of Education approved plans for eight new classrooms in January. Modular buildings will be used to increase accommodation.

A decision on planning permission for that project is expected shortly.

Deputy Smith has praised the work of the local ETB in securing approval for the projects:

"I compliment the ETB on submitting these successful applications, which I was glad to strongly support through representations to Minister Foley. I wish all involved with these projects every success."
