The Breffni Inn in Cavan Town

Apache Pizza eye up landmark building

Decision on Breffni Arms due next month

Apache Pizza has plans for a new outlet in a landmark building in Cavan town.

Currently based at Market Square in the busy town centre, the fast food chain has lodged plans to renovate the former Breffni Inn on James Connolly Street.

It applied to Cavan County Council to change the use of the building’s ground floor from a pub to takeaway, along with associated alterations and ancillary works. The plans show the front section of the ground floor is to be converted into the takeaway, with kitchen located behind. The remainder of the building is not included in the plans.

Landowner consent from Siobhan Neary is also included in the application pack.

Cavan County Council is due to make a decision on the plans by the end of October.

The former Breffni Inn bar has lain empty for a number of years after it closed in 2017. It has been on the property market since.
