Cavan show resilience in holding off Louth fightback

Electric Ireland All-Ireland Minor C camogie final

Cavan held their nerve in a dramatic finish to claim the Electric Ireland All-Ireland Minor C camogie title with a hard-earned two-point victory over Louth in Breffni on Saturday afternoon last.

In a contest that ebbed and flowed throughout, the Breffni side looked to have seized control early in the second half, only for a determined Louth outfit to storm back and leave the result hanging in the balance right to the final whistle. Ultimately, a late Clodagh Gaffney free edged Cavan over the line. The thriller crowned off an unbeaten campaign in style.

It was a triumph built on resilience and adaptability, with the second-half switch of McSeain to midfield proving decisive, while Lynch’s goal, Rebecca Clarke’s puck-outs and Gaffney’s leadership were equally influential.

For Louth, there was heartbreak, but they can take immense pride from a performance full of spirit and quality, with Condon and Callaghan particularly impressive. On the day, however, it was Cavan who had just enough to get over the line and claim All-Ireland glory.
