Diesel sludge dumped on local road

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses after three cubes of suspected diesel sludge were dumped in the local area.

The cubes, which are believed to contain the remnants of red diesel wash were dumped in the Donaghmoyne area of Carrickmacross. Red diesel is used in agricultural vehicles in Northern Ireland and the wider UK.

A Garda spokesperson says it's believed they were dumped overnight in the Mullanavannog area.

Monaghan County Council staff have been working to limit the environmental impact of the waste.

If you have any information or observed a vehicle carrying these cubes, Gardaí have asked you make contact with Carrickmacross Garda Station on 042-9690190.
