Party season in full swing

Despite a long history in business, Breffni Arm’s owner Eamonn Gray says there is no big secret to lasting long in the hotel business.

“This year will be our 43rd Christmas in business. Over this time we’ve just kept working hard, we’ve had good staff and we’ve offered a good service that people are willing to come back,” he outlines.

The hotel specialises in parties, weddings, B&B, bar trade and good food. “It’s very important that everything is done properly. There’s no point in having a hotel if you’re not prepared to work it,” says Eamonn.

The team at the Breffni Arms are very much looking forward to the return of Christmas parties this year post Covid.

“We have a lot of Christmas parties coming up. They may not be as big as in 2019, but they’re getting up there again,” reveals Eamonn.

Being situated where three provinces meet means Arva enjoys the benefit of three different GAA jurisdictions.

“We have a lot of different GAA dinner dances. Colmcilles won the Longford senior championship, Gowna won the senior Cavan title and Carrigallen won the Leitrim title. All of this unites the area and brings a lot of business to different businesses.”

The many lakes in the area mean angling is big business for the Breffni Arms.

“We get a few hundred of them [international anglers] between different competition as well as individual fishers all year around,” says Eamonn, who looks forward to greeting his customers in the hotel over the Christmas.
