It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Mel Keavney

Moynehall, Cavan

Mel Keavney, Moynehall, Cavan, (retired Cavan Co. Council). Wednesday May 24th 2023, peacefully, at home in the loving care of his family and his wonderful carer Carmel O’Neill. Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Kathleen, brothers Ted and Peter, sisters Ethel (Mel’s twin) and Gertrude. Beloved husband and best friend of the late Maura (nee Mulligan), devoted father of Paddy, John and Maria. Mel will be very sadly missed and dearly loved by his family, daughters in law Angela and Geraldine, son in law Richard, his adored grandchildren Lauren, Tom, Rachel, George, Harry and Lucy, sister Catherine and her husband Benny (Reid) the late Maura’s sister in law Mary Mulligan, nephews, nieces, all his relatives, former colleagues and many great friends.

May he rest in peace.

Mel will repose at the McMahon Funeral Home, Farnham Road, Cavan H12 C821, today, Thursday, evening from 5pm until 7pm. Removal leaving his home tomorrow Friday at 12.30 and travelling to St. Aidan’s Church, Butlersbridge, arriving for Funeral Mass at 1pm Via Cavan By Pass. Following Mass the cortège will travel, on foot, to St. Aidan’s cemetery for committal prayers and burial in the family plot. The family would like to thank all of you for your co-operation, support and kindness at this time.

Tom McNALLY

Castleknock, Dublin / Virginia, Cavan

McNally, Tom (Castleknock, Dublin 15 and formerly Virginia, Co. Cavan) August 14th, 2009. Unexpectedly at home. Beloved husband of Olive and much loved father of Vincent, Barry, Louise and David. Sadly missed by his loving family.

Tom’s Funeral Mass took place 17th August 2009 in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Virginia followed by cremation at Glasnevin Crematorium.

Vicky (Vera) Wall (née Callaghan)

Blackhills, Bailieborough, Cavan

Vicky (Vera) Wall née Callaghan, 12 Birstall Road, Birstall, Leicester, England and late of Blackhills, Bailieborough, Co Cavan died peacefully on the 22nd May 2023. Predeceased by her parents James and Veronica, brother Mark and sisters Mary and Carmel.

Deeply regretted by her loving husband Dave, loving daughter Jenny, son Simon, grandchildren Lois and Kian, brothers Jim, T.P., Ultan, Michael, Sean, Philip and Nicholas, extended family and wide circle of friends.

May She Rest In Peace.

Vicky will be repatriated back to Ireland, details to follow at a later date.

Kathleen Kieran (née Ruddy)

Keenogue, Inniskeen, Monaghan, A91 PP83

The death has occurred of Kathleen Kieran (neé Ruddy)

Beloved Mother and Grandmother, Kathleen passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Cherished wife of the Late Harry, adored mother to Mary (Michael) Duffy Corravackan, Latton, Michael (Paula), Martin (Rebecca), Cathriona, Anne (Fintan) and Henry (Patrice). Much loved Granny to Karen, Shauna, Gavin, Aoife, Niamh, Emma, Katie, Annie, Jessica, Emily and Harry. Sadly missed by her best friend and sister in-law Phyllis Ruddy, her nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Edward and Katie Ruddy, her brothers Jim and Packie (Corrateemore, Broomfield) sister Annie McGeeney and brother in-law Barney McGeeney (Drumbee), brothers in-law Pat and Mick Kieran (Keenogue) and sisters in-law Molly Kelly (Broomfield) and Kathleen Markey (Donaghmoyne).

Kathleen will be sadly missed by all her neighbours and many, many friends.

Kathleen is reposing at her home from Thursday 25th May from 2pm-10pm and Friday 26th May from 2pm-9pm. Requiem Mass will be held on Saturday 27th May at 11am in Mary Mother of Mercy Church, Inniskeen. Burial afterwards in St Marys cemetery Inniskeen

John Kelly

Jonesboro, Armagh / Inniskeen, Louth / Monaghan

Peacefully at Daisy Hill hospital surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary, parents James and Elizabeth, sister Zita Lord Oldcastle, brother Patrick (Inniskeen) and nephew Padraig Campbell. RIP.

He will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his brother Gerry (Betty) Inniskeen, sister Agatha (Patsy) Campbell Culloville, brother Thady (Bernadette) Cremartin, his nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at McCreesh Funeral Home, Dromintee from 7pm until 9pm this evening (Wed) and between the hours of 3pm to 9pm tomorrow, (Thurs). Removal at 10:15 am on Friday May 26th for 11am requiem mass in Sacred Heart Church, Jonesborough and will be live streamed via Dromintee Parish FB. Proceeding afterwards on foot for burial in Church Hill Cemetery, Jonesborough.

James (Jimmy) Mc Govern

Cara St, Clones, Monaghan / Baldoyle, Dublin

The death has occurred of James (Jimmy) Mc Govern, Cara St, Clones, Co. Monaghan, and Baldoyle, Dublin, Wednesday 24th May, peacefully, at The Hermitage Clinic, Dublin in the care of the staff and surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Mary and James and his sister Nuala Crudden.

Beloved brother of Bernard, Joseph, Marie (Mc Brien) and Edward. Jimmy will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his sister, brothers, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and by all who knew and loved Jimmy.

Jimmy will repose at the Martin's Family Room, Newbliss, H18C962 tomorrow evening Thursday from 5pm to 9pm.

The death has occurred of James (Jimmy) White, Corvalley, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, peacefully in the tender loving care of Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, Wednesday 24th May 2023. Predeceased by his mother Eileen, father Isaac and sister Dorothy. Sadly missed by son Alan, partner Dora, sisters Ruth and Anna, brother Robert, brothers-in-laws Cecil, Malcolm and Philip, aunt Doreen, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Safe in the Arms of Jesus

Reposing at Deery’s Funeral Home, Carrickmacross (A81 C653) on Friday afternoon from 4pm to 8pm. Removal on Saturday afternoon to arrive at St. Patrick’s Church, Ardragh for Funeral Service at 2pm. Burial afterwards in adjoining graveyard.

Donations, if desired to, Irish Cancer Society, via donation box c/o Deery’s Funeral Directors, Carrickmacross or any family member.
