Leona in contention in Michigan

Leona Maguire is right in the hunt to add a second LPGA title to her collection as she trails leader Amy Yang by just two shots following the third round of the Meijer Classic.

The Ballyconnell woman replicated her opening round score by carding a 69, which included five birdies and two bogeys and three shots collected between the sixth and eighth helping her up the leaderboard, leaving her on 13 under par.

Stephanie Meadow went one better with her round of 68 helping her nine under and just outside the top 10 entering the final day’s play.

Yang, 33, has misfired for just four bogeys over three days against 19 birdies at Blythefield Country Club, allowing the South Korean to build her slight advantage over three golfers tied for second at 14 under.

Alongside Maguire are Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand and Hyo Joo Kim of South Korea.
