O’Maonlai and Kila headline festival
A host of top-class Irish acts are set to descend on Drumlane as the eagerly anticipated Healing Spirit Festival takes place this weekend (September 8-10).
Headliners include Kila who performs at 8.15 pm on Saturday and Liam O'Maonlai who closes the night on Sunday at 8.15 promises to thrill the crowds at the three-day drink and drug-free festival based at the organic-farm-come-beauty-spot in Drummany, Milltown.
Happily, a limited amount of tickets remain available, and tickets for the headline concerts can be purchased as stand-alone events.
Initially scheduled for the August Bank Holiday, the festival was postponed due to inclement weather and concerns over site safety.
Filled with music, dance, food, workshops, art, yoga, storytelling, plant foraging, food stalls, and lots more, the Healing Spirit Festival promises endless family fun amid the beautiful heartland of Cavan's Lakelands.
A highlight this year will be the Talk Tent where discussions include Biodiversity, Celtic Myths, Composting, the Power of Volunteering and a myriad of other subjects.
Event organiser Gearóid Teevan says that the festival will include a wide array of events, where everyone will find something to their taste.
"We're hoping for a weekend with lovely people who are gathering for a new type of festival. As well as the music there will be workshops, sound baths, storytelling, blacksmith demonstrations, yoga, a wide range of speakers, and much more.”
The event is being held for the second time of asking after it was forced to be postponed in July due to bad weather.
"Having good weather is vital for a festival like us, it's a real game changer,” said Gearóid. "Unfortunately, the new date won't suit people who had tickets for the original time, but there will be a new cohort who will be able to make it this time. For smaller events like this people often decide on the day if they are going to attend, we're not like Electric Picnic who sell out well in advance."
