Fire service attends large oil spill on Virginia Ballyduff road

Motorists are advised to exersize caution in the area

Fire services in Ballyjamesduff and Virginia are currently attending a large oil spill incident on the R194 between Virginia and Ballyduff.

The spill continues down to Killyfassey Cross.

Motorists are adviced to expect delays if travelling on the "treacherous" road and to exersize caution.

Virginia Fire Service confirmed the incident on Facebook.

"Virginia and Ballyjamesduff Brigades are currently treating a large oil spill on the R194 from Virginia, through Ballyjamesduff, and continuing on to Killyfassey Cross. Delays can be expected and road users are advised to exercise caution as road surfaces may be treacherous."

Cavan County Council also shared the incident through a Facebook post which read "Cavan County Fire Service Virginia and Ballyjamesduff Brigades are currently treating a large oil spill".
