InSpec - Bringing energy efficiency to homes and businesses across Cavan
InSpec was established in 2021 and offers energy and quality consultancy services to help improve efficiency for the public and private sectors.
The company carries out in-depth surveys and energy audits of properties, including heating and electrical systems, to highlight deficiencies and identify where improvements and savings can be made.
“We are the only energy company of our kind based in Cavan.
“Our main business is energy management support services and energy auditing services for the commercial sector. We help businesses identify energy and carbon savings for them to achieve their sustainability and climate change goals.
“Our work helps businesses become more competitive,” explained Richard Morton, the brains behind the operation.
“We provide the customer with a helicopter view of their business in terms of energy efficiency and renewable energy. We save our customers money and support them in their sustainability goals.
“We are honest and act with integrity, we are on the customers’ side,” he added.
Spotting a gap in the market, Richard returned to education to become a certified auditor. A mechanical engineer by trade, Richard holds a number of professional AEE certifications such as Certified Energy Manager and a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional titles.
He started his career as an Energy Engineer working on projects in areas that included utilities, wastewater, buildings, and energy procurement before joining the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland in 2015 as part of the Business and Public Sector Team.
Richard says the best business advice he was ever given was to price his services in line with customer needs.
“Customers should only pay for the service they need, anything more is a waste,” he said.
“Excellent communication, a structured approach and quality are all key aspects of the service that I bring to my clients,” added Richard.
InSpec plans to increase staff levels by at least two in the near future in order to diversify its services.
“Plans for 2024 are to provide services to a domestic retrofit contractor and set ourselves up as a one stop shop for domestic retrofit,” said Richard.
