Cathaorileach Cllr Philip Brady (FF).

‘A great place to live and visit’ – Cllr Brady

The cathaoirleach Philip Brady is urging consumers to shop local, in so far as is possible, this Christmas and support local retailers and jobs in the community.

"With its picturesque landscapes and friendly community, Arva is a busy town where you will always meet a friendly face," said the Fianna Fáil man.

"From its local shops to its countrywide known businesses, such as Ellis’s Fresh Today and the symbolic Brady's Volkswagen, Arva has its name on the map in every town in the country. There are so many good businesses in the town and this brings people from all the surrounding communities and counties," he continued.

Cllr Brady also praised the ethos of volunteerism in many groups in Arva and the surrounding area.

"The community spirit here is second to none and we see that in the Arva Development committee, the tidy towns committee, to the Gaa club who are after becoming Ulster Junior football Champions and the journey hopefully isn’t finished yet. The support everyone gives each other around here builds a warm welcoming atmosphere, and there always seems to be something happening that helps foster a sense of belonging," remarked the county's first citizen.

He praised a number of festivals that are firmly established on the county's annual calendar.

"They have one of the most successful agricultural shows in the country and the Three Province Festival has raised huge amount of money for different charities over the year. Overall, Arva is a great place to live and visit, so stay local and shop local this Christmas," concluded Cllr Brady.
