It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

David Murrin

5 Annalee Manor, Ballyhaise, Cavan

Sunday February 25th 2024, peacefully in the loving care of his family and the staff at Cavan General Hospital. Beloved husband and best friend of May and devoted father of David (Fiona), Geraldine (Declan), grandchildren Glenn, Graham, Josh and Freya, great grandson Caelum, sister Ann O’Shea, brother in law Andrew, nieces, nephews, all his relatives and friends.

May He Rest In Peace.

Reposing at his home on Tuesday evening from 3pm until 6pm for neighbours and close friends please. Removal on Wednesday morning to St. Mary’s Church, Ballyhaise arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Following Mass, the cortege will travel to Cullies Cemetery for committal prayers and burial.

No flowers please, donations in lieu would by appreciated by the family to Palliative Care, Cavan or McMahon Funeral Directors, Farnham Road, Cavan.

Mary Phillingham

(née O'Connell)

Ballaghanea and late of Killinkere Post Office., Virginia, Cavan

The death has occurred of Mary Phillingham (née O' Connell), Ballaghanea, Virginia, Co. Cavan and late of Killinkere Post Office, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on the 24 February 2024.

Predeceased by her parents Ned and Miriam.

Much loved wife of Peter and adored mother to Ben, Joe and Lee. Mary will be very sadly missed by her loving husband and sons, her sisters Gemma (Paul), Alison (Thomas), Anita (Gerry) and Rosaleen (Armando), her sister in law Sharon (Phil), her aunts Sue Sheanon and Rena Sheridan her uncle Patsy, her nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and her wide circle of friends.

Reposing at Matthews Funeral Home, Bailieborough Road, Virginia (A82YV58) on Monday evening from 4 o'clock until prayers at 8 o'clock.

Removal on Tuesday morning to St. Ultan's Church Killinkere for 11 o'clock Funeral Mass with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Patrick (Pat) Sorohan

Cordonaghy, Loch Gowna, Cavan

Sorohan, Patrick (Pat), Cordonaghy, Loch Gowna/Arva, peacefully in the presence of his loving family, after a short illness.

Beloved husband of Josephine. Pre-deceased by his brother Fr. Jim Sorohan. Sadly missed by his daughter Maura, sons; Gerard, Jim and Padraig, son-in-law Mark and daughters in law; Catherine, Orlaith and Breda, his sisters; Theresa, Ann and Monica and his brothers; Con and Brendan, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Greatly missed by his cherished grandchildren Aine, Roisin, Moya, Joanna, Ella, Patrick, Joseph and Seoidín, the wider family circle, close neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Lakeland’s Funeral Home (H12 RF78) on Tuesday 27th February from 6-8pm with removal afterwards to his son Jim’s residence in Cordonaghy (house strictly private to close neighbours and friends please).

House private on Wednesday morning.

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday 28th Feb at 12 noon in the Church of the Holy Family, Loch Gowna, followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Peggy Swinburne

Cloughvalley Lower, Ballybay Road, Carrickmacross, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Peggy Swinburne, Cloughvalley Lower, Ballybay Road, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, peacefully in her home, Sunday 25th February 2024. Predeceased by her parents Paddy and Mary and her brother Pat. Deeply regretted and sadly missed with love by her sister Ann, brothers Tommy and Benny, sisters-in-law Ann and Breige, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Deery’s Funeral Home, Carrickmacross (A81 C653) on Monday afternoon from 4pm to 7pm. Removal from Deery’s Funeral Home, Carrickmacross on Monday evening on foot to St. Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross (A81 K253) for prayers of reception at 7.30pm. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10am in St. Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Family flowers only
