Bruce Springsteen tribute act, The Seeger Sessions Revival will play the Townhall Theatre next week.

Seeger Sessions tribute to Springsteen back in Cavan

A 13-piece tribute to Bruce Springsteen’s legendary Seeger Sessions album and live shows, is back in Cavan on Friday, April 5 and you don’t want to miss it.

Made up of fiddle, banjo, accordion, steel guitar, whistle, a thumping rhythm section, a virtuoso four-piece brass section and strong group vocal harmonies, ‘The Seeger Sessions Revival’ deliver a high energy two hour-long celebration with hits including ‘Old Dan Tucker’, ‘Jesse James’ and ‘American Land’ to name just a few.

Christopher Speer, banjo player and guitarist in the group, explained what inspired him to pursue such an awe-inspiring project.

“Aside from the actual songs that are timeless and brilliant, I think it was the looseness and freeness of Springsteen’s take on them in the recordings along with the obviously excellent musicianship from each member that instantly drew me to it.

“As Bruce said himself, ‘It is not music being written, but music being made’ and I think that sums it up perfectly. To me it is music that gets right inside you and makes you dance from the inside out and for me now, every night is an absolute pleasure to share the stage with my band, playing these songs and still, the hair stands on the back of my neck when everything is gelling and particularly when the brass kicks off into one of the extended brass solos!

Following a whirlwind year that saw the band play sold out shows throughout Ireland, and a recent sold out show in London’s LSO St. Luke’s, the same venue that Springsteen brought his Seeger Sessions Band to in 2006, The Seeger Sessions Revival is only going from strength to strength and the rest of 2024 will see them travel Ireland and the UK with shows lined up in iconic venues such as the Belfast’s Ulster Hall in May along with a Scottish tour in October.

The Seeger Sessions Revival will take to the stage at the Townhall Arts Centre, Cavan on Friday, April 5 at 8pm.
